I woke up around 4am with cramps in my stomach and ended up getting in the bath tub when they weren't gone after an hour. From there we called the midwives and they said it sounded like I was having contractions but if I came in they'd probably just send me home. I just stayed in the bath tub and around 6am they called me and told me to come into the hospital. During the car ride the pain became excruciating and I hoped I was in labor because I didn't think I could do pain like that again. Once we were at the hospital they checked me and told me he was coming today. We were scared and didn't know what to expect. They told me if I had came in the day before they'd be putting me in an ambulance and taking me to OHSU but since I turned 35 weeks that day they could keep me there. My body was shaking in pain, they gave me a vomit bag and I felt like I was going to pass out. I ordered an epidural and when they got me in a room, two hours after we arrived, that's when I got it. It was almost immediate relief and I felt like I could actually think and talk with the nurses and midwives about what to expect with him coming early. I had Christopher call my sister and she jumped on the next flight to Portland. Then he called our parents and told them he would let them know when he arrived and not to come before then. When they came to check me at 2pm they said he was ready. They brought about 4-5 other professionals into the room in case he wasn't breathing or anything else happened when he was out. After 25 min of pushing he came, screaming and crying and perfect. The other specialists left the room within a couple minutes saying he was fine and he didn't need attention from them. He laid on my chest for the first hour and Christopher and I were in tears that he was perfect and healthy and here. This little person has brought me so much joy, frustration, and fear and I never knew I could love someone so much and so quickly. Happy birthday Fox! suitable items to wear of the masquerade
